Derived from the 1000 coupe designed by Bertone (1962-1967), the Simca 1200S had the 1204cc engine of the 1100 sedan and was capable of interesting performance. Characterized by a rather sporty front with depth lights embedded in the grille, the 1200S had an initial power of 80 horsepower, then increased to 85 at the end of its career. Production ceased in 1971.
