Produced in more than two million units, the Renault Dauphine, marketed starting from 1956, was the best-selling car in France from 1957 to 1961. Despite its behavior on the road that was anything but safe, the Dauphine was able to conquer a large public. and also enjoyed some success in the sports sector, with important results at the Monte Carlo Rally or the Tour de Corse. In the prepared versions one could glimpse what the subsequent development of the R8 Gordini would be. The Dauphine went out of production in 1968, with the latest version of the Gordini, type R-1095.
