After a very promising debut season in 1991, the Jordan team failed to repeat the performance in 1992. The agreement in place with Ford and Cosworth for the continuation of the supply of the Ford XB was canceled due to too high costs, Jordan recovered the Yamaha OX99 V12 engines after the Japanese company had left Brabham.
