Marketed in 1989, the Peugeot 605 was initially very penalized by the many problems of youth that compromised its reliability. Over time the car was improved, especially with the second generation, from 1995. Designed by Gérard Welter, talented stylist, it was somewhat reminiscent of Pininfarina's Alfa Romeo 164 in its external and internal lines. The choice of engines is very wide, from the 2-liter petrol engine (115-145 horsepower depending on the version) to the everlasting V6 3.0 first with 12, then with 24 valves (170 and 200 horsepower respectively). Towards the end of his career, in July 1997, the V6 ES9 was introduced. There is also a good choice among diesels, with displacements between 2.1 and 2.5 liters. The 605 was produced until June 1999, with 254,501 units sold.
