Giving in to the fashion of bio-design, the fifth generation of the Celica (T180), presented in 1990, allowed Toyota to hit five world rally titles (two manufacturers and three drivers). The basic versions were the 115hp 1.6 STi and the 160hp 2.0GT, but the most interesting were the turbos with all-wheel drive. A limited series of the Turbo 4WD, called "Carlos Sainz", was produced in 5000 units, with widened fenders, air-water exchanger, air intake on the hood and 208 horses (the standard 4WD had 204 horses and an air-to-air exchanger instead. The Celica Mk.V was discontinued in 1994.
