In July 1991, Renault included a convertible in their catalogue, for the first time in 19 years. The 19 convertible, elegantly designed by Karmann, certainly did not lack personality. The work of the German specialist made it possible to maintain the stiffness of the frame, albeit with a weight overload of almost one hundred kilograms. The 19 cabriolet received a restyling in 1992, also receiving a 1.8 engine which replaced the base 1700cc. Special series include the 1994 Camargue and the 1995 Aria, when the RSi replaced the 16v sports car. The career of the 19 convertible ended in 1997, when it was replaced by the Mégane convertible. Just over 29,000 examples of 19 convertibles were produced.
