As the long career of the V8 (born as the DB S) drew to a close, Aston Martin and Zagato joined forces for a resounding new heist. In March 1986 the Vantage Zagato was presented, in coupé configuration, designed by Giuseppe Mittino. Production was limited to 50 units, 14 of which were left-hand drive. In March 1987 a second series was presented, this time in a convertible configuration (Vantage Volante); after the prototype, which was equipped with retractable headlights, the following 36 examples had the same front as the coupé.
