In 1985 the Ligier team gained the ground lost the previous year, thanks to the JS25 model and the commitment of Gérard Larrousse and Michel Tetu. One of Ligier's iconic pilots, Jacques Laffite, also returned. The chassis and front suspension were completely new and also thanks to the ever-improving performance of the Renault engine, some good placings with Laffite, Andrea De Cesaris and Philippe Streiff arrived during the season.
