The official launch of the new Alpine V6 (GTA) took place at the 1985 Geneva Motor Show. The style, very clean and sober, was in continuity with the A310 V6. The new Alpine was offered in two variants: the V6 GT with a 2849cc and 160 horsepower engine and the V6 Turbo with a 2458cc and 200 horsepower engine. In April 1989 the special Mille Miles version was presented which kept the 200 horsepower engine. In September 1989 the V6 GT version was eliminated, while in April 1990 there was the launch of the Le Mans series, characterized by a more aggressive style, equipped with the 2458cc engine that gave 185 horsepower. Production ended in 1991 after 6593 units built. The GTA was replaced by the A610, which was its logical development.
