Conceived as a prototype for racing purpose, the Renault Sport Spider, presented in 1996, was at least from an aesthetic point of view, an uncompromising car. Very agile, its engine, which derived from the slightly heavier Clio Williams, was not entirely adequate. Production went on until 1999. In 1997 a version with a windscreen was introduced.
