The Aston Martin DBS debuted in the James Bond film, Casino Royale, released in November 2006. After this first appearance, the DBS was shown at Pebble Beach in August 2007 a few weeks before its official launch at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The new DBS was not a logical follow-up to the 1967 DBS: it succeeded Vanquish in the more exclusive segment of production. DBS was marketed until 2012.
