To replace the Silhouette, Lamborghini presented the Jalpa in 1981, a mid engine sports car fitted with an 8V 3485cc unit. Direct competitor of the Ferrari 308 GTB, the Jalpa boasted high performances, guaranteed by the 255 horsepower engine, but was plagued by excessive consumption. About 420 exemplars were produced until 1988.
