At its presentation in 1969, the 97000 project could be said to be very modern, although not as extreme as in the studies that preceded it.Inspired by American models, the Bedford CF was fitted with 1598 and 1759cc petrol engines, replaced in 1972 by a 1975cc and a 2279cc. The 1760 and 2523cc Perkins diesels were replaced by a 2064cc Opel. In some markets, the Bedford was branded Opel Bedford Blitz, in Norway Opel Blitz. In Australia some Holden-derived engines were installed. Numerous series, for a production that stopped in 1988.
