Economic basis, low weight, narrow tires, gritty presentation and oversteering behavior: the Simca 1000 Rallye has been for years a gym for budding drivers and enthusiasts of sporty but cheap driving. In 1970 Simca presented the first series Rallye, equipped with a 53 horsepower 1118cc engine. Space for Rallye 1 in 1972, with an engine brought to 1.3 liters and 60 horsepower: the evolution was starting to be interesting and continued with the 1972 Rallye 2 (82 horsepower, new camshaft, double body carburettors). The Rallye continued to evolve until 1978, both mechanically and aesthetically, when it was introduced the Rallye 3, the final version of the engine with Rallye 2 (103 bhp). The Rallye 3 was immediately recognizable among other things for its widened mudguards and the front spoiler. Just in 1978 the Rallye series retired, after eight years of cars that had been able to excite lovers of sports driving.
