The first postwar Opel Kapitan, produced since 1948, was essentially identical to the one that had been presented in the late 1930s. The car was equipped with the 2473cc 6-cylinder which gave a power of 55 horsepower. Production went on until February 1951 (around unit 30,500 built), when the third series was introduced, with more modern bodywork and more powerful engine.
