The 997 series Turbo made its appearance at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show, two years after the introduction of the new 911 generation. The 911 997 Turbo had a 3.6-liter 480-horsepower engine and was initially only available in a coupe version; the convertible would go into production the following year. In June 2008, Porsche introduced a restyling and a whole series of updates to the whole 997 range; the turbo saw its power increase to 500 horsepower. The arrival of the Turbo S was one of the reasons of interest of the Porsche stand at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show: the Turbo S joined the Turbo, with an output of 530 horsepower and the standard Sport Chrono package (it was optional on the Turbo). In September 2011 Porsche announced the 991 generation. The new 991 Turbo would only arrive in 2013.
