SPARK-MODEL - MATRA SIMCA - F1 MS84 N 19 CANADA GP 1969 JOHNNY SERVOZ GAVIN

The MS84, built as a one-off, was a Formula 1 with four-wheel drive, designed with the participation of Matra International for 1969. The car had a traditional chassis with a Cosworth DFV engine; the novelty was the Ferguson four-wheel drive system, whose lead engineer was Derek Gardner. The distribution of traction was initially 25-75 (front-rear), but over the course of the season it varied and on some occasions the team used the car with rear-wheel drive only. Heavier than the MS80 (595kg versus 535) and certainly more complicated to set up, the MS84 finished sixth in the Canadian debut GP with Servoz-Gavin. Jean-Pierre Beltoise also piloted the MS84. The car was scrapped at the end of the season.
