The Ensign N176 (chassis MN05) was a development of the N175. Both cars were designed by Dave Baldwin, and were the classic British F.1 kit car, with monocoque chassis, Cosworth V8 engine and Hewland gearbox. Compared to the N175, the N176 had modified suspension and brakes; fast but rather fragile, he achieved fifth place in Spain with Chris Amon as his best result. Hans Binder, Jacky Ickx and Patrick Nève also drove the N176.
