This Morgan series, introduced in 1936, is one of the longest-running families of sports cars. The 4/4 1600 was marketed starting from 1968 and compared to the previous series received the Ford Kent 4-cylinder in-line 1599cc engine. In many cases the engines were prepared with specific competition, capable of about 95 horsepower. This engine was kept until 1982, when it was replaced by the Ford CVH 1600. Some examples, around 1981, received the Fiat twin cam 1600. From the beginning of 1969 a 4-seater version was also available.
