Designed by Mauro Forghieri with the collaboration of Mario Tollentino, the Lambo 291 was driven by Nicola Larini and Eric van de Poele during the 1991 season, when it was fielded by Team Modena, with the Italian who obtained a seventh place in Phoenix. Made to adapt well to the LE3512 engine built by the Casa di Sant'Agata Bolognese, a 12,500 cm V80° 12-cylinder longitudinal rear engine capable of delivering a power of 700 hp at 12,800 rpm, this Formula 1 had a monocoque chassis in carbon fiber and kevlar. The total weight was 510 kg, the wheelbase of 2,915 mm. Its line was fairly conventional (unlike many other single-seaters the Lambo 291 did not have the raised nose on the style introduced by Tyrrell), except for the triangular section sides that clearly recalled those of the Brabham and BRM of the 70s.
