The ECV2 was an extreme project, developed two years after the ECV, with a line designed by Carlo Gaino. The ECV2 was conceived in 1988, in the period in which the Lancia Delta Integrale dominated the rally scene. With the ECV2 Lancia had imagined an extreme car, for a hypothetical Group S, for which other manufacturers had also presented studies and projects. For the ECV2 Lancia had used the Triflux engine already designed by Lombardi for the ECV.
