The 906 Carrera 6, introduced in 1966, was a milestone in the history of Porsche racing cars. Equipped with the 1991cc 6-cylinder engine type 901/20 with 220 horsepower at 8000 rpm, the 906 was the ideal car even for private teams who made extensive use of it until the early seventies. The 906 also received a long tail bodywork for circuits such as Le Mans. Among the most significant successes of the 906 is the 1966 Targa Florio with Mairesse and Mueller.
