A winning car, evolution of the FW14 that had fought to the last for the Constructors' ranking the previous year, taking second place in the championship. The Williams FW14B allowed the English team to conquer the brands and riders title in 1992 with Nigel Mansell, world champion with five race in advance. The British was absolute dominant during that season, winning nine out of 16 Grand Prix, five of which in a row at the beginning of the year. One win was clinched by his team-mate Riccardo Patrese, second in the championship's classment. This single-seater, which had been renamed "the car that came from another planet", was the result of the inventiveness of Adrian Newey, who developed it together with designer Patrick Head on the basis of the 1991 model. His main weapon was certainly the Renault V10 3,500 cm³ engine, delivering a power of 760 hp, much more compact than the one use the previous year.
