In 1951 the Opel Kapitan received a new and more modern bodywork, which reminded some stylistic features typical of the American production, in particular in the nose area (bumper and grille), although the overall appearance remained more or less that of the second series. The engine remained the 2473cc 6-cylinder, but boosted from 55 to 58 horsepower. From March 1951 to July 1953 about 48,500 copies were produced.
