Jordan's expectations for the 1996 season were high. The team used Peugeot engines and manager Eddie Jordan had promised to take home some wins. Jordan drivers were Rubens Barrichello and Martin Brundle; the latter had been signed to replace Eddie Irvine who at the last moment had accepted the call from Ferrari. The season, however, did not take a good turn and the Irish team had to settle for fifth place with only 22 points, without any victory and some fourth place as best result. Barrichello was eighth and Brundle eleventh in the final drivers standings.
