At the end of 1997 Ken Tyrrell, at the age of 73, handed over his team to Jacques Villeneuve's manager Craig Pollock, who had the intention of founding a completely new team for 1999. In 1998, however, Tyrrell continued. with the old name and with Ken Tyrrell as president, flanked by technical director Harvey Postlethwaite. The 026 for the 1998 season was completed at the end of January and was equipped with the Ford Zetec-R V10 engine. Tyrrell did not achieve significant results: Takagi did not go beyond a couple of ninth places (Great Britain, Italy) and Rosset was eighth in Canada. At the end of 1998 the name Tyrrell disappeared from Formula 1.
