The sporty model of the Renault 5 saw the light in 1976: called 5 Alpine, it stood out aesthetically for the bumper with integrated spoiler, Fergat rims (similar to those fitted to the Renault 12 or 17TS) and interior with a more racing style. The 5 Alpine was equipped with a 1400cc engine that gave 93 horsepower, a respectable power. The commercial success of the 5 Alpine was immediate and the car continued its career over the years, with minimal aesthetic variations, such as the three-eyed rims, similar to those of the A310, introduced as an option in 1978. Power injection in 1982, when the Turbo version went into production, with the usual 1400cc engine but supercharged by a Garrett turbine, with a power of 110 horsepower. New rims and a new tailpipe underscore the evolution of the Alpine. With the arrival of the Supercinq, the 5 retired and also for the turbo in 1985 the time came to say goodbye to the public of sports enthusiasts. The 5 Alpine, both in the aspirated and turbocharged variant, also called the life of a lucky single-brand in various countries, which was a success for Renault from a commercial and promotional point of view.
