Since 1951 Gerhard Oettinger had been preparing Volkswagen engines by fitting them with two carburetors. These transformations were successful and Oettinger created the Okrasa, short for Oettinger Kraftfahrtechnische Spezial Anstalt, who continued to focus on the development of Volkswagen mechanics. The 1200 Oettinger was available from 1983 to 1985 only in the Germany market and was equipped with a 1300cc twin carburetor engine giving 52 HP, quite more compared to 34 of the original unit, top speed reaching 153 km / h. The interior was also modified, with a four-spoke steering wheel and oil temperature gauge.
