Based on the Opel Vectra platform, the Saab 900 NG (NG for "New Generation") was presented in July 1993 with 5-door body and three engines: 4-cylinder 2000cc (133hp), 4-cylinder 2300cc (150hp), V6 2500cc ( 170cv). In February 1994 the coupe with the 185hp 2000cc turbo engine appeared. Starting from 1998 the 900 NG underwent a fairly important evolution also changing its name to 9-3.
