Made in 2001 by Prodrive and derived from the road version, the Ferrari 550 Maranello GTS dominated the FIA GT championship for two consecutive seasons with the BMS Scuderia Italia. To conquer the title in 2003 was the crew composed of Thomas Biagi and Matteo Bobbi, who obtained six victories in the ten races on the calendar, the first five consecutively. The following year Luca Cappellari and Fabrizio Gollin made it again for Ferrari, with three wins, including the one scored with Lilian Bryner and Enzo Calderari in the 24 Hours of Spa. And that was an extraordinary year, crowned also from the second place in the championship of their teammates Bobbi and Gabriele Gardel (two wins) and from the third of the Calderari and Bryner. The Ferrari 550 Maranello GTS, which made its debut in 2001 in the FIA GT and the American Le Mans Series, also clinched many other successes, obtaining a total of 27 victories on both continents. This car, produced in about ten units, had a 5.9-liter naturally aspirated V12 front engine with a power of approximately 650 hp.
