The lines of the Consul Classic, presented in 1961, recalled the American styles that were fashionable at that time. The car was marketed from 1961 with a 1340cc 4-cylinder engine (type 109E). Available with 2 or 4 door bodywork, it was updated in 1962 with the 1498cc engine (116E). Production ceased in 1963, after 84694 units of the 109E and 26531 of the 116E.
