Alongside the standard Touring coupe on 3500GT mechanics, a Vignale spider appeared at the Turin Motor Show in 1959, just following Frua's 2 + 2 cabriolet presented in Paris a few weeks earlier. Vignale's layout was due to Giovanni Michelotti, who designed a sporty and elegant body at the same time. The Maserati 3500 GT Spider Vignale was produced until 1964 in 242 units.
