In March 1969, Opel presented an improved and updated version of the Admiral, which had been on the market since 1965. The new Admiral (B) came with suspension development and some bodywork changes, including a new grille and a different nose design. The car was fitted with the 2784cc in-line 6-cylinder engine, of which several versions were made. In the basic configuration the engine developed 132 horsepower, which became 145 in the type-H. The Admiral Kapitaen version was produced until the beginning of 1970, while production ceased definitively in 1977. An engine configuration with Jetronic injection (Admiral and Diplomat 2800E) was also marketed, delivering 165 hp at 5600 rpm.
