The 1100 was Simca's (and also French car's) great novelty for 1968. Presented at the 1967 Paris Motor Show, the car was a front-wheel drive sedan, with an original bodywork featuring a rear hatch, on the basis of what Renault had made it with the 4 and 16 models. The engine was a new 1118cc 4-cylinder with variable power from 53 to 56hp. Over the years, the engines expanded, as did the versions and trim levels; the 1100 was marketed until the end of 1979, i.e. until the moment in which Chrysler sold the European branches to the PSA Peugeot-Citroen group.
