The evolution of a line that dated back some years, the Mazda 787B was a Group C car equipped with a 4.7-litre rotary engine that gave a power of around 700 HP. The 787B driven by Bertrand Gachot, Johnny Herbert and Volker Weidler took an upset victory at the 1991 24 Hours of Le Mans, thus making history as the first Japanese car to win the race.
