Together with the 250S and the 4.1-liter, the 225S was one of Ferrari's weapons for endurance races in 1952. With spider or coupé bodywork, the 225S proved very competitive.
Chassis #0176ED received a specific bodywork designed by Vignale, with fenders of a new shape. The car was purchased in 1952 by Antonio Stagnoli. After a third place in the 1952 Monaco GP, the car achieved an identical result in Portugal at the end of June, with Stagnoli at the wheel. From July of the same year the bodywork received some updates.
