The Jaguar XJR-14 did not retire definitively after the retirement of the English manufacturer from the 1991 World Sports Championship. In fact, Mazda, forced to abandon the Wankel rotary engine that had been ousted by the new technical regulation that introduced 3500cc engines, thanks to a “recycling” operation he participated in the 1992 championship using a slightly modified version of the XJR-14, renamed MXR-01. The Ford Cosworth HB V8 engine was replaced with a Judd GV V10. The rear frame structure was then adapted to accommodate the increased length of the new engine.
