The BT11 was supposed to be a customer version of the BT7, but the last two of the five built to the F1 specification ended up being used by the factory team. The BT11 was a very popular car not only in Formula 1 but also in other categories with different engines. Among the pilots who drove the BT11 were Chris Amon, Bob Anderson, Jo Bonnier, Jack Brabham, Dave Charlton, Frank Gardner, Dan Gurney, Graham Hill, Denny Hulme, Hap Sharp, Jo Siffert and John Taylor.
