In 1971, after two rather disappointing seasons, Autodelta seemed to have solved the problems of the 33 with 3-liter engine, and for that season the car actually proved more reliable and competitive. Over the course of the year the car also won two world championship races, the Brands Hatch 1000km, the Targa Florio and the Watkins Glen 6 Hours, despite competition from the 5-liter Porsche 917s.
